It was going to be a great evening. we were all set and ready to go. almost of the dental students wives were set and gone to the boo at the zoo. all except 3 or 4 so we were going to have a "girls night out with the kids". the guys have a test monday so we thought this would be perfect for them to study. well we knew it was going to be a little stormy and in our minds we were all thinking.....perfect the "storm" will scare away people, there will be less people there and we will have more fun.
As we (we being me, dayna, dax, chelsea, and ashley) venture out driving have a good old time. no rain just a little eerie and cloudy. huh, i hope the rain holds out we were thinking. just then we got a call from hans...the tornado sirens are going off. he said. well it didn't look too bad and we continued to go to the BOO AT THE ZOO!!! we were so excited. we figured we could go to our friends house if worst came to worst, but it wasn't really going to happen we believed.
we checked my phone....5 missed calls, apparently the phone service as been going in and out because of the storm. in my mind i was thinking....what storm.
we got to the zoo, pulled up to the parking lot to be greeted by a man who was frantically yelling. we missed what he said the first time and we said "what you are closed" he said....NO GO HOME very angrily. people here get all worked up for a storm we were thinking skeptically.
as we were driving...the clouds go very dark and errie. and it was time to make a decision. do we stop at our friends house who lived close by or try to make it home to our husbands. dayna is in the back seat...mommy im scared, i want daddy. it broke my heart. jon called, i think you should come home, it is not supposed to be over anytime soon and if you stop you will be there for a while, it is the worst kentucky has had.
ok with that we bolted home. we still had laughs on the outside, but i know on the inside we were all freaking out. i probably broke every single traffic law on the way home. but i said...if a cop pulls me over now, they are crazy and i will just let them escort me home and we can talk in the basement. (you know i am just all talk and wouldn't have really done that but would a cop really pull me over in this situation) i was willing to find out.
as we drove home people were just standing outside looking at the skys....they were pretty amazing i have never seen anything like it before. just different is the only think i can think of that explains it.
well the obvious ending to the story is we made it safe and sound. i have never been so happy to be home and now i get where the saying "home sweet home" comes from. it really was a sweet feeling. comes to find out where we were was the middle of the storm so i am glad we made it out of there. as for the boo at the zoo...maybe again tonight or tomorrow, i will make it back...hopefully.

Yeah that was pretty scary. I felt like I was on the movie Twister. Excpet for the fact that they were chasing tornados and we were running away from one. Thanks for getting us home "sweet home" safe and sound. Love ya!!
scary times...we live right in the middle of it and actually headed into our storage closet since we don't have a basement. there was damage done to our neighborhood all around us but we're okay too! glad you guys made it home safe. tip: when the sirens are going off, it's for real!! :-)
holy cow- that is freaky! I'm glad you guys were okay. It's always scary with tornado warnings here in Texas too. Hey, do you have Katie and Charlie's email or do they have a blog? I would love to get back in touch with them.
That's freaky! I love reading your blog updates. It's what finally motivated me to finally get ours going. I can't believe Dax is already on solid food! That's so funny that you have one child who is so tiny and then one who is big. Dayna's video is cute. I was trying to see what your house looks like in the background. I like the blue kitchen. We're looking forward to seeing you at Christmas time.
You will find in Kentucky that everyone over-reacts about storms. Just don't be one of them!We didn't even panic Thursday because we knew it was nothing...and it was!! Funny how that is always the case here.
Did you take any pictures of the sky? Glad you survived. Boo at the Zoo sounds fun!
I know! That was a bummer. Where are your fun pictures from when it worked out? I still need to download and blog mine. Have a great week!
We know what you're talking about with the tornadoe warnings. I get up and check the radio if there's a storm in the middle ot the night. Niel thinks I'm a little crazy, but when you have kids...you just worry. Here in Nebraska it seems the opposite of there. I feel like only a few people take in seriously.
