Fourth of July

The kids enjoyed dressing up for all of the Argentina World Cup game. It was fun to see them do so well, unfortunately they came up short. They both wanted Messi jerseys and they worn them to soccer camp as well.

It has been a very dry season this summer. We wanted to have a little something for the kids but fires are definitely a major danger around here as we have learned this summer. The first firework that we lit was called Killer Bees, we were on the driveway right outside of the garage, Avery heard and saw it and immediately went running through the garage and up the stairs. She wouldn't come back down to see the rest of the show. Dayna went in to bring her down and apparently she had an accident, she was pretty scared. She watched the rest of the show for the most part from the front room window with Janelle.

Avery wasn't a big fan of the show.

The older kids liked the show, they liked lighting the fireworks and picking out which one was next. At the end they fought over who got to dip the fireworks in the bucket of water before putting them in the bucket. They liked hearing the sizzle.

As always the sparklers were a big hit. Lani wasn't so sure about them at first but she got the hang of it. Dayna likes dancing and waving the sparklers.

Avery being brave, she came down the steps to watch part of the show, but soon returned to her window where she would tell us whether the firework was a good one or too loud after each one we lit off.

Lake Roosevelt

Jer and Mirian invited us to go camping with them and Mirian's family at Lake Roosevelt. We had been there once before a couple of years ago. The kids really had a lot of fun playing in the sand and in the warm water. We were down there from 9:30am till 7pm. The kids were zombies by the end of the day but they loved playing with each other and cousins. They actually managed to make it throughout the day without getting sunburned.

Avery picked up some Kayaking skills. She had a lot of fun getting pushes from her siblings and cousins and she actually could paddle around a little bit.

Uncle Jer took the girls on a ride on the Sea Doo. I guess Avery fell asleep on the ride, that goes to show how tired she was and how boring uncle's driving is.

Avery played a little game of fetch with me. She has been doing this thing where she says "Oh yeah baby!" while dancing. You have to turn up the volume to hear her but this little game of fetch kept her busy for awhile.

Cousin Lucas fell asleep as usual. He can sleep anywhere and in any position. Here he got a face full of sand.

Auntie Mirian helped out a lot with the kids, she enjoyed brushing the girls hair and painting their nails. This was at the end of day two, Avery was tired and restless. Mirian brushing her hair made her sit still long enough to fall asleep.

The kids did pretty good sleeping in the tent, it was very warm. I slept on my sleeping bag but of course the kids had to sleep in their long PJs and in the sleeping bags.

Fun around the campfire even if it was too hot to sit by the campfire.

Lake Chelan

The Warners invited us to go to the lake cabin to celebrate Nick's birthday. It was an awesome day, especially since it was smoky in Wenatchee and nice and clear at the lake.

The kids were adventurous and rode behind Nick on the wave runner. Dax and Dayna were on the paddle board and their friends were on the tube. At one point Dax and Dayna fell off the board, apparently Dax let go of Dayna and Dayna wasn't heavy enough to stay on the board without her anchor Dax so it pulled her off the board.

I had a lot of fun being towed behind the wave runner while riding the paddle board. It was interesting having two people on boards being towed at the same time.
